Letter from Elaine Strokoff

Dear Friends:

“Downtown Daily Bread saved my life. One more day on the streets and I would have been dead.” Joe, age 54. Does Downtown Daily Bread (DDB) really make a
difference? Yes, every day, for many people like Joe.

“That hot lunch was a gift.” Marie, age 55. “It is a miracle that you are here.”
Matt, age 62. Maybe it is a miracle that 100+ people have had a place to go every day for hot, nutritious meals for the past 31 years! It is also a miracle that the entire community comes together to support the mission of feeding the hungry and serving the homeless.

“I am new to being homeless; I didn’t know where to start.” Jeff, age 41.
Downtown Daily Bread helps people “jumpstart” their lives. Many folks been able to move forward because of Downtown Daily Bread: The veteran who was homeless for 10 years now has housing; the 75 year old homeless man with a heart condition has a new apartment; the little boy who started school with supplies, clothing, and a bright smile; the newly divorced veteran who was able to keep her home; the single father who could move forward with his surgery because his son was receiving appropriate care; and the battered woman who entered a domestic violence program. These are a few examples of Downtown Daily Bread miracles.

Please consider making a tax-deductible gift payable to Downtown Daily Bread. You might consider a monthly pledge of $10, $20, or even $50. A gift of $100 will pay for 50 meals ($2 per meal), and so forth. Perhaps you would like to honor a loved one with a donation to Downtown Daily Bread. Please feel free to be creative in your giving.

Thank you, in advance for your generosity and for becoming part of the Downtown Daily Bread miracle. Best wishes to all for a Happy, Healthy Holiday from all of us at DDB!

Warm regards,

Elaine Strokoff,
Executive Director
