What door should I enter?
Downtown Daily Bread is located in the Boyd Memorial Building at 234 South St. The building is marked on the side and is parallel with the side entrance of Pine Street Presbyterian Church. After entering, proceed down the steps and through the door. You may have to ring the door bell. The kitchen is on the right side and the offices are on the left. If there are any problems, please call (717) 238-4717, #3.

What should I wear?
Casual, comfortable clothing is suggested. We recommend pants or long skirts for women and young girls as a safety measure when dealing with hot food. Aprons will be provided.

Is the Boyd Building handicapped accessible?
Yes. There is an elevator on the side of the building facing the parking garage. Ring the bell and someone will open the door.

Is there parking?
Yes, the South Street Parking Garage is directly beside the Boyd Building on South St. The hourly parking rate is reasonable. In addition, metered street parking is available on State Street and the surrounding areas.

How long does it take to serve meals?
If you volunteer to serve at lunch, it is recommended that you arrive at 12p.m. and stay until 2:00p.m. Other volunteer opportunities are available at varying times.

Are children permitted to volunteer?
The recommended age for children is 12 years and over. Safety issues must be considered.

Can anyone come and volunteer at any time?
Sorry, No. Interested persons are asked to call DDB at (717) 238-4717 before any commitments are made.

Financial Support: Always the Best Gift! Please make checks payable to Downtown Daily Bread.($2 pays for one meal; $50 for 25 meals; $100 for 50 meals, etc.) Please consider sponsoring a meal by your family, friends, or business.  You will feel good knowing that you are feeding a group of hungry people at Downtown Daily Bread.

Service Times & Directions

  • Kitchen is open for lunch from 12:30pm-1:30pm
  • Volunteers should expect to stay from 12:00pm-2:00pm
  • For drop off: Cook is in the kitchen from (M-F) 7:30am-3:00pm (Sat, Sun) 8:00am-3:00pm
